Before you start your activity, let's review some useful terms.
 
 

Adaptation: How animals, insects, or plants change in order to survive.

Camouflage: Protective coloration that helps a creature blend in with its environment. In the photo at the right, the frog is camouflaged in the grass.

Hibernation: Spending the cold winter months asleep. The hedgehog in the picture at the right is settling down for a winter of sleep.

 

Mimicry: A weak animal or insect takes on the characteristics of a stronger one in order to scare off predators. In the picture, the stick bug is mimicking a twig in order to hide from predators.

 

Migration: Movement to reach a better climate or food source. The geese in the picture are flying south to a warmer climate.
