Evaluating Websites:

Have you ever been so over whelmed by the enormous number of resources available on the Internet? How do you choose sites that have accurate and useful information? Is the person responsible for the content on the website a credible source? Is the information current and updated regularly? Are there sources for information provided? Is the design of the website easy to navigate? These are some of the questions you may have when trying to determine whether a website is a quality resource to use in your research project. In order to become proficient at evaluating websites you will be required to look at 7 different science websites and answer questions about the websites content, credibility, design and accessibility. The tool "Website Evaluation Checklist" will be used guide and educate you on how to effectively evaluate and select authoritative websites. All 7 website links are listed below. Just click on the links and you will be taken to each individual website. Print out 2 copies of the "Website Evaluation Checklist" and make sure you complete a form for your two selected website sources.

CLick on Science Websites and Print Resource Tip  and print out a copy of the handout to help keep you organized. The list can be taken home so you can continue evaluating sources and researching information if needed.

 

Once you are finished with step three it is time to gather your information. Be sure to record all information and sources used on note-taking sheet. When you have answered all of your research questions it is time to start creating your digital posters. Go to the "Creating a Glog" tab to learn how to make your posters.
