I envision the school library as the place students and staff come to meet their need for access to resources, exposure to an expanse of literary options, and building blocks required for life long learning.

A. Efficient and Ethical Information Seeking Behavior

  • As part of a unit to introduce research skills to elementary school students, I created a lesson plan titled: "Cut & Paste" during which I dramatize cutting a pasting information from an encyclopedia for my reseach project.  The page I cut is planted in the volume, but the students don't know that!  This lesson has caught the attention of third graders and high school freshman alike.

  • In addition, as part of the requirement for a Syracuse University graduate course in Information Technology in Educational Settings, I evaluated the website of The Cherokee School in Orlando, Florida.  The goal of the assignment was for students to use evaluative criteria to review websites for clients recruited by the instructors.  To that end, this paper will describe the evaluation process and provide analysis of the content and process, concluding with recommendations for improvement.
