C. Information Literacy Curriculum
- Pre-K Wonderings with Parents in tow . . .
Having never gone to Pre-K or Kindergarten myself, I am drawn to the information literacy curriculum as it is explored by the eager minds of four, five and six year olds. It has been my great pleasure to work with Dr. Marilyn Arnone as she creates her cyber play space, Curiousity Creek. Here are the lessons and activities I created for that web site under development. They are designed to help parents extend the activities they jointly explore with their children on the site.
Seeing is Believing -- Observing the Properties of Liquids Simon Says "Empty or Full?" -- Building a Vocabulary for Curiousity If You Could Talk to the Animals -- Creative "Wonderings" Student work included.
- Time marches on . . .
Further along on the teaching spectrum, as the librarian at P. S. 160, I teach double periods of fifth graders with the specific purpose of strengthening Social Studies Research skills. This Observation Lesson Plan on Timelines demonstrates student use and understanding of the events in their lives as charted agains events in the world at large. Here is the graphic organizer students used to map their lives against the previous year.
